Winter Solstice on 21 December 2012 was not the end of the world
The Mayan Calendar
A lot of people think that the world is coming to an end on 21 December of this year, 2012, but this is not likely at all. The idea came about from a Mayan calendar that ends on that date but that is all there really is to the matter.
A calendar ends just like all the ones we have every year! Nothing to worry about and nothing to fear, and eventually 2012 will end and the New Year of 2013 will begin.
2012 and 2013
Ascension and other mystical beliefs
Very many people who do not believe their world is ending have other belief systems, including that of some sort of Ascension. They feel sure that they are going up a notch on a frequency level. There has been a lot of mystical talk about 'densities' and dimensions.
Followers of the many branches of the New Age movement are looking forward to a big change. Many think we are about to begin a new world, one that they have been looking forward to.
A pole reversal or shift is predicted for 21 December, 2012, but scientists see no reason that this is going to happen.
Some think that fleets of UFOs will be arriving and that alien beings have a lot to do with a massive change that is about to happen. Others think that a huge planet known as Nibiru is about to come very close to the Earth and may even collide with it causing the end of the world but there is little actual evidence for this.
More down to Earth people who run big businesses, the media and the political system are not talking about an end of the world. They are looking forward into 2013 and beyond. The moneymakers of the world are planning to make a lot more of it and see the material world as continuing much as it has been doing.

Making money from the myth of 2012
Behind a lot of the beliefs that people have about 21 December 2012 are a range of books, DVDs, films and other publications and media that have put forward the ideas of writers and speakers, who have taken advantage of the Mayan calendar ending to market their theories about what it means and to make a lot of money for themselves. There wouldn't be much point in selling books or movies about the world ending in 2012 if there wasn't one in which to spend your income!
Mayans and the Mayan Calendar
The Mayan people never died out and they have their views on the subject of 2012, though strangely it is not actual Mayans that have been doing most of the talking and writing about the subject. It has mostly been writers and thinkers with little to do with the Mayan way of life or culture.
For the Mayans it is the end of a cycle and an old calendar is ending but not the world!

King Arthur's "End of the World" gathering at Stonehenge
2012 gatherings
On 21 December on a worldwide scale, countless people are intending to gather at sacred sites like Stonehenge, to celebrate and experience this moment in time. They are looking forward to something very cosmic happening.
Druid leader and eco-warrior King Arthur Pendragon, who is the Titular Head of the Loyal Arthurian Warband, a Druid Order, will be at Stonehenge and will be sending out a Press Release at 11:11 on the day of the Winter Solstice that he hopes enough people will respond to to really make a big change in the world, a change for the better!
He has posted at his Facebook page this message: "We will be making a Political Statement from Stonehenge 11.11am, 21st December 2012, Calling for World Peace, an end to economic Slavery and a Cleaner Greener Planet Earth. Blessings from Stonehenge /|\"
21 December 2012 - a time for positivity
So the 21st December 2012 should not be seen as a time to worry about the world ending but rather a time to look forward to as a new beginning. It is a time for action, a time for positive thinking, and a time for celebration!
It can be a time too for starting something new in your life.
