Why holiday-makers choose Puerto Colon in Tenerife in the Canary Islands

Updated on October 10, 2014

Puerto Colon's Marina

Tenerife in the Canary Islands is a very popular destination for holiday-makers because of its subtropical weather and its amazing beaches. Of the places that are popular with tourists there are many reasons why Puerto Colón is such a well-liked Tenerife resort. One of them is its fabulous marina that is thought to be one of the best on the island. Another reason why Puerto Colón attracts the holiday-makers is its wonderful sandy beach which is known as Playa la Pinta.

The marina in Puerto Colón is full of catamarans and yachts. It offers excursions to go looking for dolphins and pilot whales in the bay. Besides whale-watching you can charter a boat for fishing or go on diving trips to explore the amazing underwater world that Tenerife is surrounded by.

Puerto Colón is also very easy to find and get to.

Playa la Pinta

Playa la Pinta’s golden sands are usually bathed in warm sunshine that the south of Tenerife can provide all year round. There are sun-beds and sun-shade parasols provided and the sea is safe for swimmers. The beach is also accessible for disabled people. This is a beach that is ideal for just about anyone!

Many holiday-makers who come to the island choose to stay in self-catering Tenerife apartments. In the south there is always plenty of this type of Tenerife accommodation on offer, and you can choose from short-term or long-term rentals.

Playa de las Americas

Puerto Colón is very easy to find because it is right next to the equally popular Playa de las Américas so you can walk along the pathway on the seafront or get there by road. Puerto Colón is just below San Eugenio and very close to Torviscas and Fañabe. There are regular buses through San Eugenio and it is only a short walk down to Puerto Colón and its marina and beach.

Puerto Colón has a wide range of bars, restaurants, shops and boutiques and really is an ideal place for enjoying your holidays on Tenerife. Palm trees and incredible views of the mountains inland add to the charm of this tourist resort in the south of Tenerife. With easy access to the Reina Sofía Airport too it is hardly surprising that so many visitors to Tenerife choose Puerto Colón as their favourite resort.
