What are Fabrooms? What is Fabrooms? A new concept in Interior Design

Updated on December 11, 2015

Problems with shopping for home furniture

Have you ever bought some furniture you thought would be ideal for your home but then after it has been delivered realized you have made a mistake and an expensive mistake at that? Perhaps what you decided to buy was too big, too small, or simply the colour didn’t match after all.

The same problem can happen with furnishings or accessories. Making a mistake is easily done and we can all make errors of judgment. But there is a solution and a way of finding out how an item of furniture will suit the surroundings in a room in your home. It is not necessary to buy some costly piece of furniture or furnishings and realize too late that you got it wrong. This is where Fabrooms can help.

Fabrooms explained

Fab used to be a commonly used abbreviation for “fabulous” and of course we all want our homes and rooms to be looking that way! So what is Fabrooms all about?

Fabrooms GmbH is the innovative business project of Jurgen and Christiane Klanert that was created in Munich in 2012 and launched in early 2013. The company they set up has already been very well received in the German media and Fabrooms has its own Wikipedia entry where it is described as a “curated furniture and accessories store.”

The basic idea is to provide a virtual warehouse of furniture items and accessories together with the means of trying out what individual pieces would look like along with other furniture and settings. This is done with the aid of a tool to create virtual collages of furniture and furnishings. The items are selected from the Fabrooms collection and assembled for display.

Jurgen who was born in Munich in 1976 and who has had a lot of business experience and study, having been part of the Academic Program for Business Innovation & Entrepreneurship (University of Applied Sciences Munich, 2011), explains it this way: “Magazines have been doing this forever, now anyone can. We also provide IKEA covers for couches, sofas, etc. Moreover we work with interior decorating that help us pick the furniture as well as some who write some helpful tips and tricks regarding interior decorating”.

Like Polyvore

Although it is based around a similar concept to Polyvore which mainly deals in fashion, Fabrooms is focused on home furniture, furnishings and accessories.

Fabrooms doesn’t actually have a stock of the items on sale on its website but works on behalf of other manufacturers that can supply whatever is ordered. Although Fabrooms is based in Germany and the website is in German at present, there are plans to extend the service to other countries in Europe. Fabrooms GbmH is just the beginning.

Fabroom collages

Users of the Fabrooms website must first register but then after they log in they are able to use the Collage tool and save the results. This means that they can choose various furniture and accessories and assemble them into collages to see how they all look together. In this way you could see if a sofa went well with chairs and a table, for example, before you actually decided on buying these items.

Collages that have been created can also be shared with friends via the social networking media and in this way the opinions of friends and family can be gained.

It is a new means of virtual shopping for furniture and items to decorate your living space how you really want it to look. Fabrooms is interior design made a lot simpler.
