Madame Mazuni owner HubPage interview
68All about Madame Mazuni
I recently came across the website of Madame Mazuni and because I was so impressed with what I found there I thought an interview with its owner for HubPages would make an interesting hub. It's all very colourful and I love colour! There are bags, belts, tie dye stuff, ear-rings and jewellery. There's a strong American Indian influence too.
So is Madame Mazuni a boutique of sorts or an online and offline jewellery and handicrafts shop? What exactly is Madame Mazuni all about then? I thought the owner would be the best person to ask!

The Madame Mazuni interview
Please introduce yourself to my readers and say a bit about Madame Mazuni designs and merchandise.
In the Summer of 2009 I decided to set up a business called Madame Mazuni. I design and create the following:
Handmade Jewellery
Tie Dye Eco Cotton Bags
Tie Dye Pixie Pants (Hot Pants)
Tie Dye Artwork - Wallhangings
Handmade driftwood Healing Wands
I have always loved jewellery and have been interested in the Native Americans most of my life so this combination inspired me to design and create my own jewellery using similar techniques.
Years ago I had a past life reading done and I was told that I was part of the Sioux Indian Tribe and that I should research this and the medicine wheel. This was the start of my journey learning about Native Americans and there beliefs.
Since then I have read many books on this subject. I'd like to mention books by Kenneth Meadows which I particulaly enjoyed, Earth Medicine and Earth Quest the Medicine Way. And Zuni Fetishes by Hal Zina Bennett
One aspect which had particually inspired me was that of the Zuni people in New Mexico, Arizona.

Within my own jewellery creations I too enhance the power of the Ancient Traditions, Wisdom, Protection, Guidance & Healing Powers in each piece I create.
Alongside my jewellery I create Tie Dye products which are all completely unique and original. Each fabric design is completely unique with no design the same! How could they be??
It's very exciting for me, I love the process of tie dying as I never know what patterns I have created until I untie once done! Once the fabric is dry I then use paints to work around the patterns.
I always use bright and vibrant colours which lift you up into another happy dimension when you look at them!
Beautiful vibrant works of Art! I usually use Dylon but when in season I do try to use all natural dyes: for instance Berries for red and purple.
I also make healing wands & other sculptures using found driftwood and broken tree branches. I love finding unusual stones, wood, pebbles & shells. My home is full of them.
Madame Mazuni was created to bring Vibrancy, Colour, Magic, Love and Fun into peoples lifes.
I do believe the world we live in is Dull and Grey - I personally want to throw a huge rainbow over everyone!
Influences: I've been influenced throughout my life by various different things, it keeps changing all the time so its a tough one but I can give you a snapshot of what and who has influenced me:
Native Americans, Zuni Tribe, Carlos Castenada, Timothy Leary, The Summer of Love, The Acid House Era, My Grandma who was an artist and my Dad who was so into Nature and the Environment, my mother because she has been the best mother, and Sam and Daisy for bringing out the creativity in me. Also my good friend Lee the artist who's been there from the beginning.
Discovering and living in Ibiza in the early nineties was a huge influence to me... Reading Carlos Castenada's books too.
Hobbies: Photography, Walking, Making Jewellery, Art, Travelling, Growing plants & flowers.
Music: I love all kinds of music from Electro Swing, Punk, Reggae, Folk, Rock, Acid House....Weird Sleeping Kittens. At the moment I'm listening to Jollie Holland if that helps!
The Twenties & Thirties: Swing Era: Count Basie, Duke Ellington and the Big Band
The Sixties & Seventies: The Summer of Love, Andy Wahol, Velvet Underground...
The eighties: Anarchy, Punk Era, Hip Hop, Breakdance, Chicago House Music Scene, Acid House Era...
My favourite acts: Grace Jones, Seeing her live was amazing... she is such a fantastic entertainer.
Anything else you'd like to add?
I am currently looking for a dress maker who could help me with some of my designs.

Interesting. Love how colorful her creations are. I wonder if her Native Indians designs and interests were influenced before or after her reading of her past life.
Thanks Bard of Ely..... I love it!
I am not a big fan of jewellery but I found this interview interesting. It is actually a very good idea and I can see how many people would be interested in purchasing her products. I love the idea of her being a Sioux Indian in her last life. How else could she know these skills? Thank you.
Beautiful Bard! Thank you!
My sister lives in tie dye clothes and always brightens up my day when she stops by. I'll send this to her. Thanks
As one of the Woodstock Generation, I am drawn to tie die like a bee to honey...and the tie die is easier to take off at the end of the day!
Thanks for sharing this new source with those of us who know a good thing when we see it...pulsating and undulating and leaving trails...

It is so nice to see people who are well driven with their passion and we could definitely learn from them as they are one of the hardest workers you’ll ever met.
Her creations are awesome. Thanks for sharing, Bard of Ely. :D

Thank you Bard, I enjoy learning about different people, places and culture. I may even have to pick up one of those shirts for a gift.
Thanks again!
