Amen. I am so glad that I found this hub, because I have been very disappointed that women no longer wear slips as underwear. I grew up in the 50's and 60's when when wore pretty nylon and lace trim slips all the time, How exciting if you had a chance to see a woman wearing one of showing under a dress or skirt.

I agree with everything on this hub, except for Londongirl who likes natural fibers against her skin. She does not know what she is missing by not wearing nylon, silk, and satin made slips for men to admire her in.

Also, it is too bad that women do not wear nylon slips anymore. I also find silky nylon full slips or half slips as the sexiest underwear on the planet. I hope the fashion designers will bring slips back in style as women's underwear.

Slips are the best thing EVER CREATED by humans as a female underwear. It's the sexiest clothing EVER made. Even men like I have a STRONG fetish for it. Sometimes I wear them. I wish women would one day stand up to feminity again and throw away the hard-core trash called nudity! Instead let them even wear it in public like they wear bikinis and the rest. I have never worn a slip, but I am aware of what they are, as my grandmother (still!) chastises me for wearing skirts and dresses without them. Had no idea that they could be so cute, as the only ones I have seen are simple white (no lace or colors or anything like that) and were kind of a rough fabric. I may have to look into that, I looooove lingere!

I grew up in the 50's and 60's and was taught to wear a slip full or half under my dresses so I always enjoyed wearing them. In today's fashion they tend to tell the women slips aren't needed but it is not attractive to look at a women in a dress and be able to see right through it. It is more mysterious and seductive to see a women in a dress with a bit of slip showing or not, and not be able to see through her dress. Then you know she is wearing a slip! Peaks your interest a bit I think and perhaps more women should realize that and demand quality lingerie, undergarments. Great Hub, Thanks!

What you say is absolutely true Oh Great Bard. NOTHING looks more sexy than a flash of lacy white slip hem peeking below a skirt. Luckily for me my gorgeous wife Jackie, who is in her late forties, is a passionate slip wearer. She would not dream of going out in anything other than a nice skirt (usually black, calf length and very flared) with a white flared syle half slip underneath....quite often almost as long as the skirt for "effect"...ie. peeking! She has worn slips since she was a teenager at school in the 70s, and the first thing I noticed about her when we first met was her lacy white slip peeking from under her black skirt...oh so sexy!! She had me hooked hahaha. We have been married now for nearly 25 years and in all that time I have never known her wear a skirt without a slip underneath. So in our household slips are alive and well and will always be in fashion. I have no need for viagra when Jackie wears a beautiful half slip and swirly skirt...slip heaven lol!!

This is probably the sexiest article of lingerie ever created in the mind of man. Or was it a woman who first designed the slip? Would a slip be more likely to be the concept of a woman? One would think something so feminine would have to come from a woman's mind. But perhaps it didn't. Perhaps it represents men's beliefs or desires of what they want a woman to be. However since men and women have both enjoyed these wispy little sheaths of silk or nylon for decades, maybe the slip is part of an ideal shared by both sexes as to what a woman should be. Just something to ponder.

i love lacy slips, have done since school days when girls wore them most of the time. i started to find i enjoyed my fetish and began wearing halfslips that i 'borrowed' from friends. then got a good collection of my own. love to wear a slip outside and let the breeze rub the silky material against my legs. i know its still better to see a lady in one but in the end theres not alot around so i have to do with what i have. maybe someday they will make a comeback. take care guys. colin.

Very sexy hub. I used to really love wearing slips. Slips were mandatory when wearing a dress sheer enough that the silhouette of one's legs showed when backlit, back when I was growing up. Nowadays skirts are usually designed so that this isn't a problem, so a slip isn't needed.

And of course, you never wear a slip with pants.

So slips are going the way of stockings, corsets, and garter belts. They're not "real" clothes, they're costumes, lingerie worn for pleasure, not for fashion.

Back in the late 1960's when women began wearing mini skirts, this must have been a great time for getting regular glimpses of a slip showing. As skirts lengths became very short, the length of slips couldn't have been that much less than the skirts, so much more likely to peek out, presuming that women wore slips under mini skirts then. Unfortunately I wasn't around then so I don't actually know, perhaps people who were can enlighten me?

A slip is definitley the most feminine item of clothing. A bra is womanly but a slip is feminine. It is a pity most modern women have let go of this item in favour of .... what?

While it is undoubtedly true that a woman in a slip looks far more alluring than in anything else, it is also the case that most men just do not allow themselves to appreciate what a skip feels like. Against the skin it is just fabulous.

OK, it used to be a 'sensation' holding a woman who was wearing a slip which enabled a man to get that tactile experience but it is rare these days.

When I was a lad, the 'transition' from little girl to big girl was marked by a longer dress with a slip. That was back in the 50's. A girl used to look forward to her first grown-up slip. And as a lad I was always on the lookout for that lacy flash at the hem of a dress. It was only later that I discovered wearing one myself.

I wear a short slip a lot. I have several. They go well under a shirt and tuck into trousers easily. I also have some longer slips (to the knee) in which I can lounge in of an evening; It is pleasant to sit and see a lacy hem at my knee. And I have some floor length ones that are nice for late evening that not only keep my legs warm but feel so fine around my calves.

I also have some petticoats, including a mid-length very full chiffon petticoat that feels gorgeous.

I often wonder if the 'explosion' of cross dressing - well chaps wearing women's underwear - is due to women themselves not being so adventurous in that regard and giving up so much of femininity.

My wife ADORES slips. She knows that when she goes about the house in only a full slip (cooler months) or half slip (warmer months) that she has gotten my attention. She will even wear 3 to 4 under her skirts. On one evening out, she wore nine slips (3 full, 6 half) under her dress. When she wants to have a bit of extra fun, she wears 1950's style petticoats or full slips that have the full petticoat style from waist down. These do have a bit of a problem staying hidden under her skirts, but I think she knows that. The one type of slip that I kind of cringe on is when she wear a torn up slip.

Growing up in the 1960 /1970s , my mother always wore a slip. Although she was not comfortable with me seeing her in her knickers she was quite happy to walk about the house with just her slip on, even though being of sheer nylon, her panties were always clearly visable underneath.

My wife, like a previous comment is from Nigeria where most women still wear slips. When we first met she explained to me that when wearing native attire the skirt is formed simply by wrapping a length of material around the waist and so to avoid showing the world their knickers should the material come adrift, women wear a slip underneath.

She has a large collection of slips and I love to see her wearing them. She often wears them without a bra which adds further to my exitement.

I can only agree with so many others. Slips are sooo sexy. Being nearly 60 now I can remember the girls of the 60s raising their skirt hems as fashion dictated but not wanting to waste money on new slips would tuck the slips up in their waist bands and of course they would drop down and expose the hem.

I've spent a long time analysing the attraction and I think that when I was going through puberty and getting interested in sexy things and girls the slip was percieved as the first "underwear" that was seen. Catching a glimpse of hem lace was like seeing the more intimate pants or bra made of the same stuff. Bear in mind that at this time there was no pubic hair or vulva shown in mens magazines and I think that is why many of my age are focussed on the lingerie.

On TV shows a woman getting undressed down to slip was the code for getting fully undressed. I remember watching "Poor cow" a television play about a con coming out of prison and going straight to bed with his wife. You can imagine he was pleased to see her but she still went to bed with her slip on. Indeed the BBC had a code that it was OK for a girl to appear on screen in a plain slip and be in bed. If the slip had lace on (very racey) she had to keep one foot on the floor if ever you did. I wasted hours watching plays and shows hoping for a glimpse of slip and in those days it was once or twice a week that the nudity was implied by stripping off to a slip. I think todays youth are more likely to find nudity their turn on. They have free access to moving images via the internet and can see everything. No need for subtelty. Indeed what was porn when I was 17 is now in newspapers! I guess in a way its healthier to be attracted to the women rather than their clothes.

I still have the slip bug. My wife has a good selection but doesn't wear them as much as I'd like. Indeed the sight of a slip is a big turn on and the feel of a warm body in the nylon is wonderfull but the practicality of getting to the woman inside is a problem and in the end the slip gets in the way. We have tried 1/2 slip under a full slip so that the top slip comes off after a good cuddle and then its not so difficult.

I used to wonder why the generation older than me was interested in directoire knickers and corsets and I think they were hooked on what was fashionable when they were young. Its for this reason that I dont think slips will make a comeback. Todays youth are going to be thong and bra obsessed and today girls are going to wear those things to attract the attention. It would be a brave girl who risks missing out on the attention by wearing all covering underwear. Thank goodness for all the slip sites to keep me interested.

Hurrah for uber-sexy nylon slips and (as they have been mentioned in some earlier comments) nylon panties. I absolutely adore seeing women dressed in both items of clothing and they truly are the most feminine and beautiful articles of clothing a woman can wear. It is so much sexier to see a body slightly obscured by the sheeny, lace edged fabric of a slip, than just all on display without embellishment. I think the full nylon slip is the sexiest piece of female lingerie on this planet. Back in the mid 80's my twin sister Vanessa and I both in our early twenties, we were both working as nurses in the same Hosiptal, we rented a house together as my sister and I were very close, my sister used to wear a white uniform to work every day and it was not uncommon when we got home from work for Vanessa to remove her white uniform to wash it and sit beside me on the lounge in her nylon slip to watch tv. I also discovered that Vanessa mostly wore white nylon bra,s and panties under her slips for work, but she also had a variety of coloured nylon undies for wearing under jeans and coloured dresses etc.I appreciated my sisters taste in lingerie and when I met my wife to be I introduced her to the world of beautiful nylon lingerie, my wife wears full nylon slips when ever she wears a dress or skirt and blouse, and nylon panties under her jeans and dress trousers, she always wears matchining bra and panty sets in, black, pink, blue and white etc. I have been very fortunate to have been close to women in my life who love wearing nylon lingerie.

I have been wearing a dress to work four out of the five days over the last three weeks. I have been letting a slip show below my hemline. I started wearing full nylon and satin slips a couple of years ago when I wore a wrap around skirt and my mother wouldn't let out of the house unless I wore a slip underneath.I was mad at her and didn't want to wear one because I thought they were old fashioned. I think it's all an undesirable fall-out from Women's Lib. Let's face it, Steve, you and I knew some of the leading lights of Womens' Lib, me being friendly and knocking around here in Ireland with Nell McCafferty for instance, fabulous woman and an even better journalist. But most of those Libber leaders I knew were hard-faced women with a political agenda that sometimes extended far beyond Womens' Lib. They were many of them of the Hard Left and dressed in denims like the men at the barricade. There was no place for skips in that scene.

I really love that and it's my dream to have that, but the problem is that, in these days our ladies like to wear cotton made clothes. How to advice the garments factories to make the satin's slips? Lace is definitely sexy but everyone's taste and opinion of what is the sexiest differs. Personally I think variety is sexy because I like to keep my man guessing. bras and panties offers a great variety to choose from.

Yes, a slip IS the sexiest item of underwear.. ever! I just love how they feel on my skin. Pity most women today don't wear 'em.. well not in my area anyway.

Hi, Love this hub. I'm married and have a perfect situation as I love wearing slips and so does my wife. We have a great collection that we wear at every opportunity. My collection is mainly half slips but hers is a mixture of half and full slips xx

I love beautiful slips, particularly those adorned with lace, bows and other fancy detail that heighten a woman's femininity. Despite periodic revivals of interest in more romantic forms of lingerie, including tap panties, teddies, and slips, most woman today have abandoned the slip as well as other more truly seductive forms of lingerie in favor of thongs, G-strings and other more minimalist accoutrements. These are decidedly unsexy because they reveal too much and destroy the combination of mystery, romance and innocence represented by more traditional forms of lingerie. In my humble view, a woman looks much sexier in a pair of lace trimmed briefs or tap panties than in a thong. See the Secrets in Lace online catalog, for example. Even a simple white or pastel pair of cuff-leg lollipop briefs in nylon or cotton is sexier than the thong. My history overlaps both the more traditional styles of my youth and the unattractive styles more common today so I believe I can provide some historical perspective young people of today can't understand. Particularly offensive is the use of the term "granny panties" to apply to anything not in line with the minimalist styles more common today. This term reveals a lack of historical perspective and an inability to comprehend that the traditional styles of briefs and tap pants were incredibly "hot" in their day. A beautiful woman looks even better in those styles than in the skimpy and unsexy thong. What is hidden is often far sexier than that which is revealed.
