An interview with Sylvana White intro

I had the pleasure of an exclusive interview for hubpages with Canadian singer Sylvana White, who is going to be represented in the UK, Europe and the US by Alan Craw who runs DMMG Records.

Please introduce yourself to my readers.

Hi my name is Sylvana White! I was born in Montreal, Canada and raised  in a musical environment as my parents and other family members were singers and musicians. Ever since I can remember, music has always been my greatest passion.

What started you wanting to be involved in the music business?

I realized at an early age that singing and performing were part of me and doing it is where I feel home and at my place. As a singer/songwriter it permits me to express my feelings since I think, that using lyrics and music are a good way to communicate and get messages out there. When I perform a song, whether it is an original or a cover or even someone else’s lyrics, I do it with my heart and soul, as my gesture and expression will make you travel in different little stories. In other words, I literally live the song and am like this in the studio or on a stage simply because I like to keep it real. My favourite expression is KISS ( Keep It Simple & Silly).

How would you describe the sort of songs you perform?

The sort of songs that I perform are a mix of Pop/Rock and Blues since I like to mix different genre and have a versatile sound and voice. I like to be different but it's not always easy and had my moments where I thought maybe I should fit in the mould ...

What would you say are some of the most memorable moments in your career so far?

I’ve had good support from fans, friends and family and they’ve always made sure that I would remember how special I am and that it is more than OK to see out of the box. I remember the first time I performed my third single back when I was with Infini-T, I happened to look more at a particular person in the audience and I did not know her but I felt her sadness at some point and performed the song like it was written for her. She came to see me after the show and told me that because of what I did, it gave her hope she would appreciate life and continue to believe and fight for what she wanted. This girl wanted to kill herself that night and the last thing she wanted to do was to see her favourite singer before she went. You see sometimes it does not take much to help someone and it does not cost anything. My best reward was to see her smile and that she is a very happy person today! Music is the medicine of the mind!

What other acts do you admire the most?

I will not give any names, because there are too many, but I can tell you that what I admire in an artist is their hard work, devotion to their fans, their honesty, originality, true talent and most of all a positive attitude.

What do you have planned for the future?

I just kind of described myself here but it is how I see things too and what I want to  continue doing for the future, as I want to travel and sing all over the world and to be able to get as close as possible to my FANS because us, artists, we exist because of them, so don't they deserve to see us for real and not just on TV, in magazines etc? I see myself performing and singing for as long as I can!!

Anything else you would like to add?

Thank you and hope to see you all very soon!!

No offense man but I tire of these cookie cutter responses that the so called artists of today spew. I was raised in a musical family-I'd like to thank the fans-blah blah blah. I'm tired of the egos outweighing the talent. Take me back to the days of writing a song, performing it and letting people decide what it means and if you're worth listening to. Sometimes less is more. Peace!! Tom

Well thanks for posting anyway, Tom! I am more interested in the songs like yourself as I think you know but people like to read interviews.

@ Tom,

With all do respect , i was asked to introduce myself and that s what i did. For the thanking part i just said what was real because i am tired of artist that take everything for granted and don t appreciate that if they are there it s in big part because of fans that buy their CD s and tickets to their shows. I m actually letting the people decide here if they like it or not .. Maybe you should read the interview again ??I dont think you did and can see that you have juged me pretty fast but hey you dont have to like me but my answers are real and nobody told me what to say !!!!

Take care !

@ Tom, I also come from a musical family, my father is a singer/guitarist... and I am a retired pro-drummer. And founder of the DMMG labels...

Sylvana is etitled to her say just as you are entitled to your opinions... but how can you claim her reponse is nothing more than spewing of cookie cutter... when you don't know her or haven't given her a chance?!?

You are being extremely judgemental and biased in your own narrowminded criticism... which I see as somewhat harsh.

This interview is about her as a singer/performer introducing herself and her talent etc. to a new audience...

Nowhere in the interview does it come across as egotistical, and for that matter Sylvana is not egotistical... she is a really nice person, down to earth and very approachable.

Your remark shows disrespect of the freedom of others to express and show opinion concerning there own individual talents.

And yes, people do decide what's worth listening too...!!! And in my opinion, Sylvana is worth listening too... that is why I have become her manager.... I can see Sylvana's worth, and I don't just mean financially... I mean on a level concerning actual talent and ability.

Thank you Sylvana and Alan, for your responses to Tom, whom I agree was being negative in his comments!

Thanks Steve, regards your comment concerning Tom... also thank you for doing the Hub-Pages interview with Sylvana, and of course thank you to Sylvana for doing the interview too...!!!

@ Tom, I totally respect your comment really I do.

Permit me to analyze though. You seem very frustrated as I am also against too much talk, and no action. But...an introduction is simply an introduction.A pre-launch interview is something that is suppose to interest you or not, into going to listen or see what it's all about. Who's to blame, the interviewer, or the interviewee?

What ever the case I for one will always go listen and as you say and "weigh the talent" and the words they say.

So far it's pretty well balanced where this artist is concerned.
